Cecilia turned 7 months old on Tuesday. I just can't believe how fast time is flying by. She continues to grow and develop very well. She doesn't have a doc appt this month, but she is probably between 16 and 17 lbs. She is still fitting pretty well in her 3-6 month clothes, just now wearing a couple 6-9 month pieces. She is also still wearing Size 2 diapers. Her feet continue to be very tiny; she can still easily wear Size 1 shoes, which are 0-3 months! We are thinking that may mean she will be on the short side! She has been growing hair like crazy the last couple months, so we have been trying out some bows! I am very excited about that, but Christian is not too happy about it. He is not a big accessory guy; he doesn't like it when she wears shoes, hats, bows, etc! The deal when she was born was that I could put a bow in her hair when she had enough to hold one in (meaning no stick on bows, headbands, etc...) However, I don't think he was imagining being able to get a bow in her hair at this point! Ha ha!
Bedtime is getting earlier an earlier; she now usually gets her last feeding around 7:30 and is in bed by 8:00, but still getting up around the same time, which is 7ish. She still sleeps all night, but she will occ wake up once or so making noise and will usually go right back to sleep after given her paci and bunny. On that subject, we are working on weaning her from her paci. I'd like to have her completely off it by 9 months, but we'll just play that by ear! At home, it usually stays in her bed, and I try to lay her down without it at first, but then will give it to her if she seems to need it. However, she tends to get it a little more when we are out and about, so we will be working on that!
She is continuing to enjoy her solid foods. She opens her mouth so wide for each bite; it cracks everyone up! So far she still likes everything except plain cereals and peas, both of which I sneak into her other food, but I have to be careful and not put too much or she won't eat it! She is sticking fairly well to her New Year's resolution of no catnapping. Last week we were in SC for several days, so of course, she did not do as well with her naps while traveling. She also does much better at home than at Ian's house (where we are two days a week watching him). On our trip to SC, I found out that Cecilia really likes children's music now. She got fussy a few times in the car, so we sent Sara's ipod back there with her with some of Sara Grace's "learning songs," and she quieted right down!
We are still fine tuning her sitting up skills. When she is in the right mood, she can sit for about 5 minutes without falling over. She does the best when she is focused on a toy, Ian, Mazie, etc... She can reach for toys that are close by and still keep her balance, but she will also still push back pretty hard randomly, so we have to stay near by to catch her. She is still not a fan of tummy time, but she is lasting longer and longer. She is back to wanting to be held quite a bit; however, I think it is more to be walking around and watching everything than just wanting to be held. I think she is getting bored with her toys and current development stage. She is kind of at an "in between age." Too old/bored for bouncy seats, swings, etc..., but not quite ready to sit by her independently, play, and work on crawling. I am hoping it will resolve soon!
Cecilia LOVES other little children. She is simply fascinated with them, but she really only pays attention to ones that are older than her. She loves to watch Ian (who is 1.5) walk around and play, and she met Sara Grace and Logan last week in SC and had a ball playing with them in SG's playroom. We were in SC for Jessica's wedding, and there were tons of children at the rehearsal dinner. A couple little girls (one of which was Sarah Mills, Jessica's niece) fell in love with Cecilia as well!
At the airport, waiting on our flight! It was so nice to be able
to sit her down this time! She traveled perfectly, yet again!
