CS&C Brady Blog: Lily turns 2!

Lily Elisabeth turned two on Tuesday, December 18. We were leaving for the Great Wolf Lodge for three days the day after, so it was a bit of a hectic day. I tried to have most of my errands ran, Christmas presents bought, etc...the weekend before, so we could enjoy her birthday as much as possible. We were planning on also doing a little celebration at the GWL, so I wasn't really planning much on her actual birthday. Well, leave it to the four year old to bring up that you can't have a birthday without a cake or cupcakes! So yes, we made cupcakes for the four of us!

Her well check-up was Jan 3, and she did great! The doc was very impressed with her and said that she is at the developmental level of many 2.5-3 year olds (mentally that is - we know that is not the truth size wise!). She is really a smart little stinker and amazes me sometimes at the stuff she has caught onto or says. She speaks in sentences sometimes as long as 5-7 words. However, it is interesting how she is not nearly as "academic" as her sister who knew all colors, shapes, etc..at this age. Lily doesn't have time to sit and learn all of those things; she is too busy figuring out the ways of the world and doing whatever her big sister is doing.

She is getting bigger too! She weighed 22 lbs, so she is now in the 10th percentile for weight (up from less than 5%) and 33.5 inches tall, which is the 25% (up from 10-15%). We are still going strong on size 3 diapers, but she is now wearing mostly 18-24M clothes. She is a decent eater....not great though, but how many two year olds eat great? She loves fruit, which is great, but does not help put on the poundage. Because she is still pretty small, the doc wants her to stay on whole milk until at least her 2.5 y/o appt, and maybe even until she is 3. Christian loves that! Using her milk in his coffee or cereal is a big treat for him!

Lily continues to be a pretty easy child. She is very sweet and lovable. She will whine and fuss with the best of them, but I have yet to see her throw herself on the floor in a raging fit. She is relatively even tempered, which is nice. She has gotten VERY independent though wanting to do all kinds of things by herself....getting into her highchair carseat, buckling herself in, putting on her socks and shoes, etc... It is quite interesting, but if you give her the opportunity to at least try, she is usually very willing to accept help once she realizes she cannot do it.
