CS&C Brady Blog: Snow baby

Cecilia has been waiting and waiting for snow this year. She talks about it all the time - building a snowman, wearing earmuffs like Carol? (some character on Frosty the Snowman), and she practices making snow angels on our kitchen floor. Usually by this point, we have had a couple bouts of snow with enough accumulation to go out and play. Well, not this year. A couple weeks ago, we had some flurries and Cecilia reminded me over and over again to make sure and buy some carrots at the grocery store for out snow man. We had to keep reminding her that we were probably not going to get enough for an actual snow man. Those flurries left a VERY VERY slight dusting on our deck, and she begged to go out and play in it, so I did. The little thing got all bundled up in her snow gear, and I let her out on the deck to play with the specks of snow! She had a ball! It was sad and funny all in one watching her try to scoop up the snow and toss it in the air! She had fun, and I guess that is all that counts.

So Thursday we got our first real snowfall, which still did not amount to much snow. We had rain before it, and it gradually turned into snow by about lunch time. As soon as Cecilia saw the first flake, she wanted to go play in it! But it was soaking wet outside, and we had lunch, then nap, and then gymnastics, so we did not play. On the way in and out of gymnastics, she tried to catch the snow flakes on her tongue. She continued to ask to go play in it, and I knew she would not let up until we did. Unfortunately, the temp was supposed to be dropping drastically in the next 12 hours. However, I decided to be a "yes Mom" and let her go out and play in it Friday morning. My mom came over too, and we spent probably a half an hour getting everyone dressed and ready, and then maybe spent 10 minutes outside before everyone was ready to come back inside. Lily was DONE by that point, so I started to give Cecilia the countdown, and she decided she was just ready to go ahead then at that point! The windchill was 0-5 degrees!

She had a good time while we were out though - tossing the snow and making snow angels. I can't wait to get a good snow (and not 0 degrees) - with enough that Christian doesn't have to go to work, and we can all stay home and really play in the snow building snowmen, sledding, etc...
